What is Hoot?
Hoot is a flourishing arts and health organisation based in Huddersfield. Hoot bring people together from all sections of the community to build confidence, encourage creative expression and help people to find their voice.Hoot are specialists in working with adults who have mental health needs. They improve people’s wellbeing through music and other creative activities. If you feel that taking part would make you feel good, you’re very welcome to join in – you don’t need to have a diagnosed condition to take part.
Where can I find Hoot?
Hoot activities are available across Kirklees, including harmony singing, music groups, dance, digital arts, painting and lots more. There are also music and performance events at local venues where you can go along to enjoy some of the participants’ work.One of the projects that Hoot are particularly proud of is ‘Breathing Space’, which is for older people who are living with dementia conditions and their carers. Breathing Space enables the participants to spend creative time together and helps people to share memories and prolong their relationship.
